Frequently Asked Questions

What does college planning involve?

The journey towards higher education, can be very tedious and exhausting for any student having endless questions, doubts, fears and concerns such as “what do I want to study?”, “what are my key strengths and abilities ?”, “What’s the first step I need to take ?”.

The CAAS Road Trip at UC involves many key milestones such as: Aptitude Analysis, College and Scholarship research, Curating a final list of colleges, Reviewing timelines and creating deadlines, IELTS / TOEFL preparation, College essays and Writing Enhancement, Formulating Recommendation letters, Submitting applications, Post application tracking, Sifting offer letters, Pre-University orientation and so much more.

The steps vary depending on the student's enrolment grade.

How does UC help students in grades 9 and 10?

The early grades of high-school require handholding not only in terms of subject choices and academic focus, but also an overall orientation towards:

- Sharpening Communication Skills - Understanding Research - Critical Thinking abilities

All of this requires a strong focus on student well-being plus career development. A dedicated UC Mentor works with the student, designs milestones and aligns the child to make these years meaningful in every way. Also referred as the Exploratory Track - grades 9 and 10 students who take this pathway become self-reliant and deeply sure of their choices in senior grades.

How does UC work with students in grade 11 and 12?

Grade 11 is an important grade with regards to doing a profile-gap analysis, giving certain competitive exams, becoming in-charge of your college journey, making life choices - a high-impact UC counselor works with students to curate internships, volunteer projects and more in order to help them aim for their dream colleges and also get clarity on their Why.

Grade 12 is the application year and involves the following key milestones: College and Scholarship research, Curating a final list of colleges, Reviewing timelines and creating deadlines, College essay guidance, Formulating Recommendation letters, Submitting applications, Post application tracking, Sifting offer letters, Pre-University orientation and a yoga experience to help you maintain your balance :)

What is the best time to connect with a career expert?

Trying to decide "what you want to be when you grow up" is a significant decision. But it's also a confusing one. Most students don't know which path to choose when they come to a cross-road in their lives, or how the path they choose will benefit or impact them.

University Connection's mentoring model lets students and parents sit down with a mentor in a one-on-one session to get a strong understanding of a child's interests and abilities and then create an appropriate road map towards the final destination - college acceptance.  The earlier you start the more aligned the planning can be.
